I have been fishing for over 50 years and have caught thousands of fish from shore and all types of boats. Almost all of my fishing has is in fertile northern lakes with weeds and structure visible from the surface. You can fish without a depth finder and catch fish, but it is a tool worth having. It helps to be able to see the bottom with the depth finder, and it will give you the ability to eliminate even more of the non productive water of the lake.
I have been kayak fishing for 4 years. There is something about being down on the fish level that really makes it more interesting and fun. You can also pull the fish up to the side of the kayak and unhook and release most fish without taking the fish out of the water which is nice if you want to stress the fish as little as possible.
By reading this book, you will learn how to pick the best kayak for your fishing and how to set it up the way it will suit you best for your fishing. There are many ways to set up your boat and you can personalize all of it.
If you decide to give it a try, see if you can find a place to rent one before you buy, just so you will be sure. If you decide to try kayak fishing, I think you will be glad you did.
